In its response to the COVID-19 virus, the U.S. FDA has implemented temporary policies to help expand the availability of respirators, sterilizers, diagnostic tests, hand sanitizers, personal protective equipment (PPE), and other products to the public and to healthcare professionals.

By obtaining an Emergency Use Authorization or "EUA" companies can import these products into the U.S. without the requisite approvals or clearances normally required by FDA, so long as they meet other requirements.
